This project involved creating a variety of engaging overlays for use on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook to celebrate graduates from Sinclair College. These overlays allowed graduates to share their accomplishment with family, friends, and followers on social media platforms. The overlays included static, transparent PNG frames as well as an innovative AR filter featuring a 3D graduation cap and floating Sinclair “S” logos, enhancing users’ photos and videos with interactive elements.

One of the main challenges was to create overlays that were visually appealing and easy for graduates to use on various social media platforms. Designing the AR filter required proficiency in augmented reality technology and 3D modeling to ensure seamless integration and functionality across different devices and platforms. Additionally, ensuring that the overlays effectively conveyed the spirit of graduation and represented Sinclair College’s brand identity posed a creative challenge.

In this project, I took the initiative to propose and create the interactive social media overlays independently. My role involved conceptualizing, designing, and implementing the overlays for use on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Leveraging Meta’s Spark AR platform, I developed the AR filter, utilizing its capabilities to create an immersive and engaging experience for users.

The “Interactive Social Media Overlays” project was highly successful in engaging graduates and amplifying their celebration of graduation on social media. The overlays generated significant user engagement and shares across the college’s social media profiles, increasing brand visibility and recognition. Graduates appreciated the opportunity to personalize their graduation announcements with interactive elements, contributing to a sense of community and pride within the Sinclair College community.
