Undertaking the design of Sinclair College’s 2020 Viewbook presented a multifaceted challenge that extended beyond crafting an appealing visual narrative. In addition to satisfying leadership’s design expectations, collaboration with the admissions office was essential to curate the content that would grace the pages of this crucial publication.
The project posed several challenges, including liaising with the admissions office to gather and incorporate pertinent content into the Viewbook. Balancing the design vision with the informative needs of the admissions team required effective communication and collaboration. Additionally, a change in leadership occurred toward the project’s conclusion, necessitating adaptability and effective communication to ensure continuity and the preservation of the project’s original vision.
As the lead designer, my role involved managing the design process while collaborating closely with the admissions office to curate and incorporate content. I navigated the challenges of balancing design aesthetics with informative content and effectively communicated with stakeholders to ensure alignment with the project’s objectives. Moreover, during the leadership transition, I demonstrated adaptability and effective communication skills to maintain continuity and preserve the project’s integrity.
Despite the challenges, the Sinclair College Viewbook of 2020 stands as a testament to successful collaboration, design prowess, and adaptability. The final product not only satisfied leadership’s expectations but also encapsulated the essence of Sinclair College, becoming a valuable tool for prospective students. The project highlighted my ability to manage complex collaborations and adapt to unforeseen changes, showcasing not only design skills but also effective project management in the face of organizational shifts.
